Say What? Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican???
I thought I was the only person who knew that the biggest supporters of slavery and the biggest opponents of civil rights were all DEMOCRATS.
The idea of of democratic party as the party of progression and change is a new one and frankly not a very convincing one. The reason upper middle class liberals pander so much to minorities is because they pity them.
Upper middle class liberals all think they are better than everyone else and in particular, blacks and other minorities.
The Democrats don’t like to be reminded of their shameful past. Read it and weep: Republicans have done more for civil rights than any Democrat who ever lived.
The Democrats are like the witch in the ginger bread house; they entice minorities with their bread crumbs of social programs and talk of “equality” and once they lure them in they imprison them with welfare and affirmative action.

My friend, you are appealing to the lowest political common denominator. Are you attempting to be the equivalent of an internet “shock jock?” We’ve all read or heard this argument… since we were in school. Any educated person has, anyway. Partisan politics don’t matter. The past party affiliations have changed since then. You see what good Republicans did the working people when they got into office. This whole broken economy is a result of their failed policy… “trickle-down effect” Ha! Corporate greed is one thing that we can count on! Republicans gave tax cuts to the rich and to corporations. Instead of passing along the good fortune and helping the economy, they hoarded the proceeds and left the working folks out in the cold. I don’t care about historical partisan politics. I care about hundreds of thousands of people being laid off. I know you won’t allow this post to stay, but I’ll post the comment anyway. -InTheBlack.today.com
On the contrary, I have no issue with dissenting opinion. But you are absolutely wrong about Republicans being solely responsible for the mess this country is is. In fact everything you said is Democratic party line to the hilt.
“It’s not my fault!”
That’s the democratic line and you repeat it well. Democrats in general don’t take responsibility for themselves.
Trickle down economics led to the economic prosperity of the 90’s; in case you didn’t know the 90’s was a “post war” economy; Clinton would have failed utterly as president if he had gotten elected before the end of the Cold War. In fact, we are paying for many of HIS policies now.
9-11 came about because of Clinton’s utter impotence with foreign policy. Because of him our enemies perceived us as weak and they were right.
Another thing; the greed of the 90’s led to the real estate bubble of the last 8 years; people and their “get rich quick” attitudes and banks thinking they were infallible all came as a result of the prosperity of the 90s.
Personally, I can’t fathom why any self respecting person would belong to a party that until 35 years ago thought slavery was a good thing. I’m sorry, but it’s not “in the past”: democrats are still enslaving people with a welfare, affirmative action mentality that tells them they don’t have to think for themselves or even provide for themselves; its the government’s job. I have no use for such people or such a party.
There are more and more people who are starting to see the truth and it won’t go away simply because you wave your hand and pretend it doesn’t matter anymore.
It matters more today than ever before.
This seems a bit like blind allegiance to a party to me. I could be very wrong though.

I don’t have an allegiance one way or another, I believe political parties are another form of religion and I don’t believe in religion. But I also want to say I agree with your statement about welfare and affirmative action enslaving minorities. It’s pretty much the government saying, “It’s okay, we’re here for you. Keep pumping out those kids and we’ll take care of them their whole lives. Just make sure they vote for us!” It’s pathetic! People have no sense of self-reliance or motivation because the government is there to coddle them. I’m all for government assistance for those who need it but if you’re not willing to get off your back and work for a living, then piss off and snuff yourself, mate. Such altruism isn’t natural and it’s not good for the rest of us.

Thank you both for your comments. I always appreciate feedback.
On the contrary, I have allegiance to Republican principals, not the Republican party. Politicians by and large are liars and thieves, but the principals the RNC were founded on are still valid today if not more so.
Think about it: Democracy by its definition means “majority rule”. In a majority rules the rights of the minority take a back seat. But in a Republic the rights of ALL people are held sacred.
That’s why the president is not elected by popular vote.
That’s why the Republican party was the anti slavery party and the Democratic party for almost 400 years supported the oppression of minorities.
To say that in a mere 35 years Democrats have completely changed their policies is willful ignorance.
